A lovely friend brought KaiCopenhagen to my attention a few weeks ago, and I instantly fell in love. When I saw their signature Kai Doll i was swept back down on memry lane to my own childhood, I felt warm, and fuzzy and all I wanted to do is hug this doll and bring him into my children’s lives. Kai has not left the sight of his Kai doll, and I can thank him helping us thru the difficult transtion of weaning from nursing and starting to sleep in his own bed. When I asked the lovely designer Josephine to write a few lines how she started the designs, I got chills down my back because their philosophy behind these toys and the emotions they are trying to convey thru the art of toy making is exactly how I felt. Art is subjective, but I would call an art piece succesfull when you able to convey and create feelings in others exactly how you intended to. Please read her words below.
"KAI is more than a wonderful danish designed organic piece of Art-Toy.
KAI is a tool of Love & Care."
"Everybody needs a place to feel safe to return to and a place where your potentials can grow. A place to call Home. To us, Home is where you are loved and cared for – and where you love and care for."
"KAI is a great admirer of children for whom Love & Care is so natural. And KAI has a great respect for people and organisations who fight for making, not only homes for people with no homes, but homes of Love & Care for everyone."
"KAI tries to communicate this message by design, because design is what we do best. This is why our signature product (the KAI Doll) has big friendly open eyes - arms that can hug you and that you can hug right back - and a heart that you can see. All made from certified Oeko-tex materials, which is one result of ”care”."
"Why the name KAI?
KAI means a familiar face - and someone you can be yourself around.
KAI means Quay or wharf and is the place you step out from to seek new ventures and the place you return to. KAI is home."
Children have a special place in the heart of KAI Copenhagen.
